Kumasi, Dec 27, GNA - The Police in Kumasi seized 27 unlicensed motorbikes, which intelligence reports alleged were to be used to disrupt the voting process during the December 7 2004 general election. Assistant Commissioner of Police Ofosu-Mensah Gyeabour, Ashanti Regional Police Commander, who disclosed this, said the Police would continue to apprehend all unlicensed motorbikes.

Speaking to newsmen in Kumasi, he gave the assurance that the Police and the other security agencies were in full control and ready to deal with any post-election disturbances in the region and Kumasi in particular to ensure peace, unity and stability.

He said the security agencies were monitoring events seriously and appealed to the political parties and their supporters to respect the law and the rights of the public while celebrating their election victory.

ACP Gyeabour warned people bent on fomenting trouble to change their minds as the security agencies were prepared to deal with them.
