Upper Bobikuma (C/R), Aug 29, GNA - The mortal remains of the late Chief of Upper Bobikuma in the Agona District, Nana Yaw Buabeng X, was laid to rest on Saturday.
Among the government delegation and other dignitaries at the graveside were the Deputy Central Regional Minister, Mr Samuel Kweku Obodai, the MP Agona East, Mr John Kwesi Agyabeng and Mr Ben Mensah, District Chief Executive.
Others were Mr Adofo Dwamena, Agona West Constituency Chairman and the entire Executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the Omanhene of the Agona Nyakrom Traditional Area, Nana Okofo Katakyi Nyakoh Eku X, Nana Ogidigram Aseidu Okrubi Kobina Botwe II, Swedruhene and Adontenhene and all the Divisional Chiefs in the area.
Before the burial of the late Nana Buabeng, Nana Nyakoh Eku was carried in a palanquin through the principal streets of the town followed the Divisional Chiefs and Queen Mothers in their mourning cloth.
A sheep was slaughtered before he filed past the body. The late Nana Buabeng fell sick on 25th November 2006 and was admitted at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra but died on 5th December last year.
He was born on 18th March 1961 and left behind a wife and three children.
Nana Nyakoh Eku in a tribute said the Chief's death was received with shock, grief and disbelief since he was the most youthful among the members of the traditional Council.
He stated that the late Twafohene of the Area exhibited maturity and wisdom and contributed meaningfully to all discussions of the Council. Nana Nyakoh Eku noted that the death of the late Chief had created a "great vacuum" in the area and stated that "Even though Nana Buabeng's departure from this world to eternity and his sojourn has been brief, he made his mark with his exemplary sense of humility and service to his town and the Agonaman".
