The Upper East Regional Chapter of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has sent a congratulatory message to Mr. Andrew Awuni on his appointment as Deputy Minister of Information.
A statement issued in Bolgatanga and signed by Mr Mohammed Nurudeen Issahaq, Acting Regional Chairman, said Mr Awuni's elevation was yet another manifestation of the government's recognition of the role journalists have played, and continued to play, in the national development effort.
It conveyed the appreciation of journalists in the region to President J.A. Kufuor for the honour done their colleague, and said members of the Association had no doubt at all about Mr Awuni's competence and capability to prove himself equal to his new responsibilities.
The message further reassured the newly appointed Deputy Minister of the co-operation of members of the Chapter at all times, towards the successful discharge of his functions.
It also reaffirmed the resolve of journalists in the region to continue to render the best of services for the people of the area, and the nation as a whole, in spite of the numerous constraints confronting them.
