Bolgatanga, Jan 09, GNA - For the first time in many years, the Upper East Region did not record any accidents during the just ended Christmas and New Year period. Police Inspector Matthew Akpilima of the Bolgatanga Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) made this known in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Bolgatanga at the weekend. He attributed the success to the road safety campaign launched in the region during the year as well as the intensification of police operations to check defaulting drivers and motorists. Inspector Akpilima said radio discussions on the local FM stations about traffic regulations had also impacted positively on road users. He said the road safety exercise embarked upon by the police MTTU in the region would continue to ensure that the public complied with road safety rules.
