Wa, Jan 21, GNA- The Upper West Regional Executive of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Tuesday held an education programme for its polling station chairmen from all the polling stations in the region. Briefing newsmen after a meeting with constituency executives and opinion leaders, Alhaji Yakubu Seidu, Regional Vice Chairman of the party, said the programme was to equip the party's executives in the area on their rights and responsibilities before, during and on the voting day and campaign procedures.

He said they want them to know their roles and responsibilities so as to resist intimidations, as had been the practice.

Alhaji Seidu said they would tour the region and educate the people against the use of violence, lies and other forms of intimidations. "We are not going to use intimidations, lies, character assassination and poor propaganda but shall educate them to do the right thing and use civil language to win votes.''

He accused some opposition parties of peddling false information about the NPP government, adding ''It is unfortunate that they are using these gimmicks when they know very well that our party is a progressive one that seeks to bring development and good living standards to the suffering rural people.''.

Mr Abu Ibrahim Tammah, Deputy Regional Secretary of the NPP, appealed to party members at the constituency levels to resist all forms of misinformation and lies.
