Mr. Sulemana Alhassan, the newly appointed Upper West Regional Minister has promised to focus on five thematic areas contained in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP’s) campaign manifesto to bring development to the region.
He mentioned agriculture and industrial development; education and youth development; health, water and sanitation improvement as well as roads, transport, security and peaceful coexistence and tourism potential development as some of the priority areas to embark on.
Mr. Alhassan made the promise when he arrived in Wa to take the reign of the region to a rousing welcome by some supporters and sympathisers of the NPP who met him and his entourage at Bamahu, about seven Kilometres from Wa.
Addressing them later, Mr. Alhassan expressed gratitude to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the confidence reposed in him and promised to work assiduously to help the President to achieve his vision for the region in particular and the country at large.
Mr Alhassan also promised to work with everybody in the region as a team without any form of discrimination and called for maximum cooperation and contribution from all to develop the region.
He pleaded for patience from the public as the President puts together his team that would help him fulfill his campaign promises to the people.
Alhaji Abdul-Rahaman Abubakar, NPP Upper West Regional Chairman told the Minister that the crowd that waited tirelessly for hours to welcome him into the region was an indication of the level of goodwill and support for his administration in the region and for the government.
He however appealed to the people not to pressurize the Minister with personal problems but allow him space to focus on deliver for the benefit all in the region.
