Upper West Regional Minister galvanizes support from Wa Naa

The Upper West Regional Minister, Stephen Yakubu, commenced his tour in the region with a courtesy call on the Overlord of the Waala Traditional Council, Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV, on Tuesday, May 7, 2024.

The visit is aimed not only at introducing himself to the traditional leaders but also at rallying them behind a common cause: the advancement of the region and the broader northern sector of Ghana towards prosperity and equity.

The visit of the Upper West Regional Minister was not merely a formality but a strategic move to garner support from the people.

Emphasizing core values such as education, resilience, and self-determination, Stephen Yakubu called for a transformative shift in the political landscape of the region.

He urged stakeholders to transcend partisan divides and collaborate in harnessing political resources to lift communities out of poverty.

Integral to the Minister's agenda was the preservation of government lands, a critical resource for the development of the region.

In response to concerns raised by the Overlord regarding the unauthorized sale of such lands, Yakubu revealed that he had taken decisive action by directing the Lands Commission to immediately cease allocating government lands to private individuals, recognizing the urgent need to safeguard these assets for future developmental projects.

He further indicated that he was committed to conducting thorough investigations into existing allocations of government land, with the possibility of revocation if warranted.

Naa Seidu Braimah, speaking on behalf of the Overlord of the Waala Traditional Council, expressed the unwavering support of the Wa Naa for Stephen Yakubu's initiatives to combat poverty in the region.
