Asamankese (E/R), Jan. 20, GNA - Apostle Joel Kofi Ayim, Founder and Leader of the Christ Compassion Ministry International Church (CCMIC), has stated that as Ghana's Golden Jubilee Independence celebrations on March 6, gathers momentum there is the need for total national reconciliation and repentance.
Addressing members of the Church at Asamankese in the Eastern Region, he called on both the young and old to strive for the nation to derive maximum benefit from the anniversary.
He called on Ghanaians to learn to live by the truth in the face of all odds, because it was the "master key for abundant divine blessings, which the nation has been yearning for".
Apostle Ayim stressed the need for the people to cultivate the spirit of truth, which was the only way for the transformation of the country's ailing socio-economic, moral and cultural conditions within the next ten years.
He said the country was facing problems due to the fact the people, most of whom professed to Christians were not prepared to "forsake their evil ways and live in truth, which is an opener of all good tidings from the creator".
This is the time, "we should strive in the face of all odds to embrace the truth in our various workplaces and religious pursuits to attract the mercies and forgiveness of God".
Apostle Ayim charged Christians and Muslims to champion the national crusade against lies, which had impeded economic emancipation for more than 49 years since the attainment of independence. "We should as a nation resolve now to do all we can to eschew all negative acts, which derail national development and live in the true spirit of unison to chart a new path for economic prosperity and social progress", Apostle Ayim added.
He spoke against the habit of some Christians who hid behind cloak of the religion to indulge in "nefarious activities against the fellow men and the state" and asked them to reform since the Lord would not forgive them on judgement day.
Apostle Ayim charged parents and guardians to help correct the immoral behaviour of the youth, which, he said, was getting out of control by pointing out their mistakes without fear or favour. "We will build a society full of criminals and other social misfits if we spare the rod on our children when they commit mistakes", Apostle Ayim said and advised traders and businessmen to pay their taxes to strengthen the financial base of the country.
Apostle Ayim also cautioned workers in state and private establishments to refrain from financial and other malpractices, which retarded the social and economic advancement of the nation and inimical to divine principles and direction.
He stated that the youth had the moral and civic responsibility to lead decent and upright lives to grow up into God fearing and dependable citizens in future.
They must eschew immoral acts like drug abuse and insolence towards the elderly and those in authority and desist from the "wilful destruction of national property".
