Awutu-Bawjiase (C/R), Aug 13, GNA - The District Chief Executive for Awutu-Effutu-Senya, Mr Solomon Kwashie Abbam-Quaye, has said that sports especially soccer should be used to unite the people for accelerated development.
Addressing organisers of football clubs at Awutu-Bawjiase, he charged Local Government sub-structures like Unit Committees, Town and Area Councils in the District to initiate steps to form at least a formidable Football Club in their electoral areas.
He said that apart from entertainment such clubs could be used as tools for uniting the people and injecting a spirit of fellow feeling and understanding among them.
Mr Charles Aloe, Chairman of the Bawjiase Area Council, appealed to "well-placed" citizens of the area living in urban areas to offer financial and material support towards the formation and development of football teams.
He commended the DCE for his interest in Colts football and appealed for logistics to promote their development. Mr Aloe commended the DCE's appeal for the formation of clubs in the electoral areas to help the nation discover hidden soccer stars in rural areas.
