Use yuletide to enhance peace and unity in the nation-Bishop

Cape Coast, Dec. 24, GNA - Right Reverend Isaac Quansah, bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana of the Cape Coast Diocese, on Friday said if the "new heart" the birth of Christ offers during Christmas was applied to our political, social and economic responsibilities as Ghanaians, it would help promote development, economic growth and peace that the nation looks forward for.

He said the occasion should not only be used for merry making but for a sober reflection and true reconciliation, this he noted would help enhance the nation's young democracy.

Bishop Quansah said this in a Christmas message in an interview with the GNA at Cape Coast.

He said Christianity as a religion and faith has brought transformation and hope into people's lives, particularly those, who remain faithful and committed and that, such individuals as well as nations, who accept the Christian faith and practise its ethical norms see peace and prosperity.

Bishop Quansah said "the faith and knowledge of truth, about Jesus leads to Godliness and hope of eternal life, which God has promised to all, who believe in Christ", and urged Christians to continue to have faith and trust in God, who helped the nation through a peaceful and incident free elections.

The Bishop said as Christ paid the price for sin and opened the way of peace, Christians should emulate the example and learn to forgive and be each other's keeper.

He appealed to the rich in society to extend their love and care in this festive occasion not only to their relatives but also to the needy, who need support and assistance.

The Bishop urged Christians to use the yuletide to enhance peace in their communities and let "Jesus grow in their lives" so that they may attain eternal and everlasting peace. 24 Dec. 04
