Nkoranza (B/A), Aug. 19, GNA - Co-ordinators of the Village Infrastructure Project (VIP) are on a week's tour to inspect projects being undertaken in Brong Ahafo and Ashanti Regions.
Mr Brown Matthew Oppong, National Co-ordinator of VIP told Ghana News Agency at Nkoranza that the exercise was to ensure that the projects were carried out well and to correct any defects. He said they would also interact with the beneficiary communities to ensure their involvement in the initiation and execution of the projects.
It would also provide opportunity to beneficiary District Assemblies to identify problems posed by the projects for discussion with the coordinators.
Mr Oppong said the co-ordinators would also inspect the financial record books of the District Assemblies on the projects to ensure they spent the project funds according to specifications or guidelines. Under the VIP programme, a number of markets, feeder roads, dams, irrigation systems, boreholes, agricultural processing plants and intermediate means of transport have been provided in a number of communities.
The VIP is a world-sponsored programme involving the government, District Assemblies, International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), German Technical Corporation and beneficiary communities.
