Paga (U/E), June 1, GNA - The Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, on Tuesday arrived in Bolgatanga the Upper East Regional capital for a week's working visit.
He is scheduled to inspect development projects some of which are being executed with proceeds from the Highly Indebted Poor Country (HIPC) initiative in all the six districts in the region. On Tuesday, the first day of his itinerary, Alhaji Mahama would commission the Ghana Telecom mobile phone facility, One Touch, in Bolgatanga, and pay courtesy calls on the Paramount Chief of the Bolgatanga Traditional Area, Naba Martin Abilba III, the Zuarungu Naba and the Tongo-Rana, Kwadan Tii.
While at Tongo he would address a durbar of chiefs and people of the Talensi Traditional Area.
Later in the day, the Vice President would interact with functionaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at a rally at the Bolgatanga new Lorry Park.
Accompanying the Vice President are Dr. Gesika Adombire Agambilla, Deputy Minister of Ports, Harbours and Railways, Hajia Alima Mahama, Deputy Minister for Trade, Industry and President's Special Initiatives (PSI), Mr. Ben Bukari Salifu, a Minster of State at the National Development Planning Commission and Mr. Boniface Saddique, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Modernization of the Capital City.
The rest are Mr. Andrew Awuni, a Deputy Minister of Information, Madam Hawa Yakubu, Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Mr. Kwadwo Baah Wiredu, Minister of Education Youth and Sports and Professor Christopher Ameyaw Akumfi, Minister of Ports, Harbours and Railways.
