Agona Swedru, Oct. 4, GNA - The Naana Khadija Islamic Girls Secondary and Vocational School at Agona Swedru has been inaugurated with a call on Muslim parents to see education as the key to empowerment and the guarantee of technological competition.

In a speech read for him at the function at the weekend, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, the Vice President said Naana Khadija school complex has been established at a time when it is obvious that government alone could not adequately provide good structures and other facilities to help quality education delivery. According to the Vice President, the government was encouraging communities and public- spirited individuals and organizations which could afford to provide additional structures to complement government efforts.

Alhaji Aliu Mahama said Muslim parents should see the school as their own and contribute to its maintenance and expansion , adding that they must ensure that their children go to school regularly and monitor their progress. He asked the management of the school to seek the advice of educational experts in designing the school curriculum. The Vice President said it was therefore, pertinent to be mindful of the quality and academic level of the personnel to be employed both as teaching and non-teaching staff . He expressed grave concern about certain acts of indiscipline including violence perpetrated by some section of Muslim youth, saying that indiscipline is not part of the Islamic way of life.

Alhaji Aliu Mahama called on the school authorities, in particular and the entire Muslim community to take the issue of indiscipline as a great challenge to the whole society. Shielk Abdul Nasir Abubakar, Director of the School appealed to the government, NGOs and the Agona District Assembly to help the school to get utility services to ensure efficient running of the school.
