Mr Kwesi Bekoe Amissah Arthur, Vice President, has said government would resource the Ghana Armed Forces to enable it carry out its duties efficiently.

The Vice President disclosed this in an address read on his behalf at the Army Officers End-of-Year Dinner Dance held at its Mess in Accra.

The dinner dance provided an opportunity for the officers to socialize and interact with loved ones.

Mr Amissah Arthur noted that training, discipline and professionalism, had been the hallmark of the Ghana Armed Forces.

He said Ghana had always been among the first countries to be contacted to provide troops for peacekeeping operations in war torn countries.

This, the Vice President said, has brought respect to the Ghana Armed Forces and Ghana in general.

Mr Amissah Arthur said the year was a tense one and no one knew what each day would turn out in the areas of security.

He said the country has retained its stability because it had in the centre of events a disciplined force that was ready to enforce discipline.

Mr Amissah Arthur said government had initiated a number of projects including the provision of accommodation for young officers.

The Vice President commended the personnel for their hard work which had resulted into a successful year.

He urged them to put their expertise to bear to combat any unruly behaviour before, during and after the elections.

Colonel Charles Agyemang Prempeh, President of the Mess Committee (PMC) said the year was characterized with many challenges which led to the death of some officers.

He gave the assurance that the Armed Forces would continue to perform its duties efficiently.
