Accra, Aug 6, GNA - Vice President John Dramani Mahama on Friday gave assurance to the people of Bamboi and its surrounding areas that the government would do everything possible to provide a senior secondary school to encourage their children to go to school.

"The people of Bamboi do not have any senior secondary school. They will either have to go to Wenchi in the Brong-Ahafo Region or travel several kilometres to Bole and I think you deserve to have a separate school."

Vice President Mahama said this when a delegation of chiefs and a Queen mother from the North Mo Traditional Area of the Bole District called on him at the Castle, Osu, to first petition him for projects and to invite him for their yam festival in September.

He also promised to upgrade their police station and health facility to a Polyclinic to make them attractive to the surrounding communities around Bamboi.

"You are so lucky and I can assure you that you have hit the nail right on the head, considering the fact that I am the chairman of the Ghana Police Service Board, I will make sure that a better police station is provided to combat crime in the area."

He said the Bole District had been selected among others to pilot the mango programme under the Export Development Investments Fund (EDIF) and appealed to the chiefs to consider releasing land for the project that had the likelihood of providing jobs for numerous people in the district.

He also promised to officially visit them to hold fruitful discussions that would enhance the development of the traditional area.

Nana Dompeeh Antwi II, Chief of Carpenter in the Bole District who led the delegation, appealed to the Vice President to consider creating a separate district for the people of Mo North to facilitate the development of the area.

He also appealed for the upgrading of the Health Centre and local police station to district status to cater for the health and security needs of the people.

"We are ready to release land for whatever projects you will bring to our area for us to develop to the level of other districts," he said.
