Daboase, June 8, GNA - Mr Anthony Bassaw, District Chief Executive (DCE) of Mpohor Wassa East, on Wednesday called on video centre operators within the district to desist from showing pornographic movies to students and the youth who patronised their centres.

He noted that such movies were gradually affecting the moral and academic lives of students and youth in the area with its resultant social vices.

Mr Bassaw was speaking at the inauguration of the Unit Committees for the 34 electoral areas within the district.

He noted that the assembly would soon embark on an exercise to close down most of those centres to save the youth from losing focus on their future goals and aspirations.

He therefore charged unit committee members to endeavour to enforce the bye-laws on noise making and public nuisance as an immediate control measure.

Mr Bassaw said another area of concern was during wake-keeping whereby children stayed late into the night to enjoy music which, according to him, promoted sexual promiscuity.

He called on them to work as a team devoid of political affiliation in order to achieve the common goal of raising the standard of living of the inhabitants of the district.

He urged them to be tolerant, respectful and patient in their day-to-day activities in order not to incur the displeasure of the people they were serving adding 93please stay away from chieftaincy issues".
