Vodafone Ghana has organized “akwantuo aye free” exercise, an initiative to cover the transportation fare of Vodafone subscribers who are travelling to various destinations during the Yuletide.

The activity which took off from Thursday at the different commercial bus terminals including Neoplan and Kaneshie stations targeted subscribers traveling from Accra to other regions including Kumasi, Tamale, and Takoradi.

The event allowed subscribers who were travelling to have their fares paid for them by Vodafone Ghana and travelers who had already paid their fares had their fares paid back to them by Vodafone Ghana.

Mr Martinson Obeng Agyei, Head of Mass Marketing, Vodafone Ghana said: “Today being Christmas, it’s an exciting day for both Vodafone and our customers; that is why we want to reward them by at least paying 100 per cent of their transportation fares for them”, he said.

He said subscribers were also given bottles of water and products from Fan Ice Company Limited to refresh them while they embark on their journey to the various destinations.

“We are targeting thousands of customers at each bus station and that is why we are undertaking this exercise between 0600 hrs and 1800 hrs”, he said.

Mr Obeng Agyei said Vodafone Ghana will continue to undertake this exercise periodically because of the positive response from their customers towards the initiative.

He advised Vodafone subscribers to keep their phones active since the network will excite users on daily basis with attractive offers.

Mr Bonsu William, a tiller and Vodafone subscriber, who had his fare paid for him to Kumasi by Vodafone Ghana, expressed gratitude to them for the big surprise.

“I was very excited when personnel from the network approached me and asked if I am a subscriber to sponsor my fare. I wish they will do this every festive season”, he said.

Alhaji Ahmed Mustafa, a fashion designer and also a Vodafone subscriber who was travelling to Tamale, told the GNA that the network is doing well in helping to meet the needs of its customers.
