Volta entrepreneurs challenged to break industrial grounds

Ho, Aug. 17, GNA - Mr Joseph Amenowode, the Volta Regional Minister, has appealed to entrepreneurs in the region to spark off the region's industrial revolution.

He said the region's intellectual and natural endowments must be applied to lift it from buy and sell towards "real productions."

Mr Amenowode was speaking at a Venture Capital Trust Fund Road-show in Ho.

The Road-Show with the theme "Providing Financing through Venture Capital sought to create public awareness on the activities of the Fund.

Mr Amenowode said "the region cannot continue to be a producer of teachers, nurses and gari" and urged businesses operating in "small small kiosks to expand and establish giant businesses."

He urged people in the Small and Medium scale Enterprises to do away with selfish business ideas for "corporate ideas."

"You can form joint ventures to achieve your individual big dreams," he advised.

Mr Daniel Duku, Chief Executive Officer of Venture Capital Trust Fund, described the Volta Region as full of opportunities and advised entrepreneurs to come out with strategic projects to access funds and technical assistance from his outfit.

Mr Percival Ampomah, Senior Investment Analyst at Venture Capital Trust Fund, said the Fund had invested about 21.5 million Ghana cedis in various sectors of the economy since 2006.

He said 558,861 million Ghana cedis was invested mainly in the fishing industry in the Volta Region and that several opportunities were available for Small and Medium scale Enterprises in the region.
