Kumasi, Dec 24, GNA -Citizens of the Volta Region resident in Ashanti have expressed their gratitude to the Asantehene for the warm and cordial relationship existing between indigenes of Asanteman and the different ethnic groups.

Togbe S.K. Fugah, chairman of the Voltarian Co-ordinating Council (VCC), said the peace and cordial relations between Asantes and the different ethnic groups have made it possible for them to live and pursue their economic and social activities in harmony. He was addressing the last gathering of the "Ewe Atsorfo" group for the year at Anloga in Kumasi on Tuesday. The 'Atsorfo' is a social group comprising various ethnic groups from the Volta Region with the objective of assisting each other in times of need.

Togbe Fugah said, apart from obeying the laws of the land, it was also incumbent on all Voltarians to respect the values and cultural practices of Asantes, the hosts.

He said since they were resident in the Ashanti Region, they should actively participate in all communal activities to enhance the development of the communities.

Mr S.K. Fianyo, President of the 'Atsorfo' group, urged them to give priority attention to their children's education since the children of today will be tomorrow's leaders and could not effectively lead the country and their communities without education.
