Kumasi, Nov. 9, GNA - Mr Joseph Amenowode, Volta Regional Minister, has advised residents in the area to contribute their quotas to augments government's effort and hasten the development of the region. Addressing a meeting with the Ewe Community in Kumasi at the weekend, he urged them to be united and live in total peace and harmony always.
He noted that the region abounds in human and natural resources and therefore with peace and unity of purpose they could be harnessed for development. Mr Amenowode used the occasion to launch the "Amu-Za", a festival to showcase the rich culture of the Ewes, which is expected to take place next year in Kumasi.
He said the Volta Regional Coordinating Council would work in conjunction with the traditional authorities and other stakeholders to improve the living conditions of the people. "The government would do everything to make sure that they get their fair share of the national cake," he assured them. Togbui Mawufeame Fugah, Head of the Ewe Community, appealed to the people to give their support to the preparation and celebration of the "Amu Za". He also asked them to continue to peacefully co-exist with other ethnic groups.
