The Headmaster of WBM Zion Senior High School at Akyem Tafo, Mr Daniel Okai, has appealed for the provision of infrastructure to the academic facility to enable it serve the community and its environs better.
According to the headmaster, the school which has a student population of more than 1,200 students is being run on a rented premise and lacked many facilities to enhance teaching and learning.
Mr Okai made the appeal when the Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Victor Smith, donated some items to the school from his own resources to enable the students of the Home Science Department to write the West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination.
The items included gas cooker, dining hall set and mixing bowls estimated at GH¢1, 000.
The Headmaster revealed that, all the teaching staff including himself are living in rented accommodation far away from the school and could therefore not supervise the activities of the students.
He said despite the situation, the school since 2000 had chalked 100 per cent success in the Senior High School Certificate Examination.
Mr Okai expressed the hope that public-spirited persons who are interested in education would be touched by the plight of the school and come to its aid.
He said although the Ghana Education Trust Fund had come to the aid of the school by building a 16- classroom block, the academic facility still needs help to relocate to the new site where the classrooms are situated.**
