Wasa Akropong (W/R), May 3, GNA - Mr Zakari Osumanu, Secretary of the School Management Committee of Wasa Akropong English/Arabic Primary School has appealed for financial and material assistance to save the school from total collapse.

He told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Wasa Akropong on Monday that the school, which was established about 15 years ago, lacked basic items and facilities including furniture, potable water and playing field. A pavilion, which was constructed for the school ten years ago by the erstwhile Wassa Amenfi District Assembly has still not been roofed and partitioned, making teaching and learning difficult.

Mr Osumani therefore, urged the District Assembly, the Ghana Education Service, the Muslim Missions in Ghana and NGOs and well-meaning citizens to come to the aid of the school.

The headteacher's bungalow, he said, was in a very deplorable state and added that, the poor condition of the school has negatively affected enrolment.

Mr Osumanu said the school's Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) and the Wasa Akropong Muslim Community have made efforts to pool their resources to solve the problems of the school but these efforts were not adequate.
