Ashiaman, May 10, GNA - Mr Emmanuel Teye, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ashiaman, has called on his constituents to close their ranks to enable the NPP to retain that Parliamentary seat in the December elections.
Mr Teye, who made the call at the election of four officers to fill vacant executive positions at the constituency level of the NPP at Ashiaman on Sunday, pointed out that the unfortunate situation where members were at each other's throat did not augur well for the smooth running of the party.
He also charged the electorate to intensify their membership drive and mobilize more supporters for the party.
The MP listed a number of development projects he initiated with about 150 million cedis of his share of the common fund in the area, saying they included the construction of roads and drainage systems.
Mr Teye said the Ministry of Health has approved the construction of a hospital at Ashiaman while the Tema Development Corporation had released land for the construction of a post office.
On the constituency's primaries, the MP stated that even though two other contestants were vying for the post, he was confident that he would retain the incumbency.
When the elections were over, Mr Richard Ahwireng emerged as the First Vice Chairman with Mrs Azaraa Yakubu, a former assemblywoman, winning the position of Second Vice Chairperson. Mr Joseph Ofosu Siaw was elected Secretary with Mr James Gyamfi as his assistant.
Mr Ahwireng thanked the electorate for the confidence reposed in them and called for maximum support and co-operation of members to enable them succeed.
He gave the assurance that his team would run a transparent administration and appealed to all to be regular and punctual at meetings, so they could take collective decisions to help move the party forward.
