Asamankese (E/R), Aug. 28, GNA - As part of preparations towards the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Ghana's Independence, the West Akyem District Assembly has earmarked the Kwaku Sae Waterfalls as one of the tourist sites to be upgraded for attraction. Among other projects to be undertaken to serve as monuments for the golden jubilee include the renovation of a school at Adeiso into a model one and building a new one in the Asamankese area.

The District Chief Executive, Mr Kwabena Sintim-Aboagye, who announced this, when addressing the last meeting of the current District Assembly at Asamankese also said the Asamankese community centre was to be rehabilitated to host events for the jubilee celebration. Mr Sintim-Aboagye said a site had been cleared for the construction of the Asamankese Sports Stadium and the assembly was determined to have the stadium grassed, fenced and ready for use for the jubilee activities next year.

The DCE said Asamankese was being considered for selection by the Eastern Regional Jubilee Planning Committee to host the regional cultural festival during the celebration. Mr Sintim-Aboagye asked all house owners, especially those along all major streets in Asamankese, Adeiso and Osenase to paint their houses in order to beautify these towns in readiness for the jubilee celebrations.
