Takoradi July 17, GNA - Mrs Rebecca Dadzie, Western Regional Director of Education, on Friday called on parents to contribute their quota towards the development of teaching and learning in Senior High Schools (SHS).
She made the call in an address read on her behalf in Takoradi, at the inauguration of the Association of Western Regional SHS Parent-teacher Association, an umbrella body.
Mrs Dadzie asked parents to provide the needed materials and financial support to their children in SHS to facilitate teaching and learning.
She said the formation of the association was appropriate since it would promote dialogue with stakeholders in accessing quality and equal educational opportunities for children of school going age in the region.
Mr Joe Ocloo-Nyamadi, Chairman of the Regional Conference of Heads of Secondary Schools, advised the association to carry out its work devoid of partisan or political undertones.
Members should also seek the welfare of students and school authorities to ensure conducive atmosphere on the various campuses for development devoid of acrimony.
Reverend Boamah Agyekum, Chairman of the association, said the members aim at promoting quality education and educate parents to be alive to their responsibilities.
Nana Kobina Nketsiah V, Omanhene of Essikado Traditional Area, who presided, said the formation of the association would make it possible for communities to have a say in the educational direction of schools.
