Winneba Hospital undergoes 255 million cedi rehabilitation

Winneba, Dec. 26, GNA - The government has rehabilitated the Winneba Government Hospital at a cost of 255 million cedis. Mr Harry Kumasa, the Hospital Administrator, told the GNA in an interview at Winneba on Wednesday that the Maternity Ward was expanded, an additional place of convenience was constructed and the walls around the hospital were raised.

Other areas that attracted repairs included the Out-Patients Department (OPD), ground and walk ways leading to the various departments and the furnishing of staff bungalows. Mr. Kumasa also disclosed that a total of 30 million cedis was disbursed to workers of the hospital as incentives for excellent performance during the year.


He said besides, the hospital management gave special cash and other awards to selected hard workers and those who had retired from service.


Mr. Kumasa commended the staff of the hospital for their dedication and support and appealed to them to maintain the spirit in the coming year to enable it offer better services to patients.

He appealed to the managements of other hospitals to ensure transparency in their operations to bring about the much needed quality health delivery in the country, adding that the achievement of the Winneba Hospital was made possible by the transparent manner in which its work was conducted during the year.


Mr. Kumasa appealed to other health institutions to use the yuletide festivities to educate Ghanaians especially those in the rural areas on preventive measures to be adopted against HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases.
