Winneba, March 18, GNA - Accident cases in Winneba reduced from 83 to 51 between January and November 2005 and the same period in 2006, Mr. Nicholas Gasu, Deputy Superintendent of Police in charge of the Winneba District said at a get together for police personnel in Winneba. He said this followed education by the drivers' union in Winneba and constant police patrol especially on the Winneba/Kasoa road. Mr Gasu said 33 people died and 258 were injured in 2005 as against 25 dead and 124 injuries in 2006. On general security, he said the police have stepped up night patrol in the district with resumption of the loading shedding exercise. The District Chief Executive, Mr. Solomon Abbam-Quaye, appealed to the police to work hard to ensure peace and order in the district.
