Woman,32, dies in accident at Wa

Madam Hawa Adams, a 32-year-old woman met her untimely death on Wednesday morning when a Ford Truck with registration number UW 2636 C knocked her down killing her instantly.

The deceased was riding a motor bike with registration number M-10-UW 6851 ahead of the truck, when the accident happened.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mr. Joseph Oppong, Upper West Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) Commander, told the GNA that the accident occurred around the U-Turn in front of the Ghana Commercial Bank in Wa.

He said both the deceased and the driver of the truck, Master Siita Yakubu, were from the traffic light heading towards the police station area when the incident occurred.

DSP Oppong said after knocking the woman down, the back tire run over her, crushing her head in the process.

He said the body of the deceased had since been deposited at the Wa Government Hospital Mortuary pending postmortem examination before releasing it to the family.

The Upper West MTTU Commander said the driver is currently in Police custody assisting in the investigation.
