Domeabra (B/A), Aug. 15. GNA - Ms. Georgina Achiaa, a 22 year-old unemployed orphan has appealed to the police administration to assist her family to claim her late policeman father's gratuity. She said her father, Sergeant Jackson Alamidi, died in 1986 while serving at Mankesim in the Central Region.
Ms Achiaa told the Ghana News Agency at Domeabra that after the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) had served the beneficiary nominees, efforts made to collect the deceased's monthly allowances for the stipulated period had not been successful. She said her late mother, as the nominee, used to collect such allowances but after her death in the year 2000 the siblings had made efforts for the management to pay the monthly allowance in her (Georgina) name on behalf of her siblings but all to no avail. Ms Achiaa said she had been to the Police headquarters in Accra with her uncle, Mr Kwame Baffoe-Boateng and even sworn an affidavit to the effect but still there had not been any favourable response from the request.
She appealed to the Police Administration to consider the plight of the bereaved family and conduct the necessary investigations into the matter to ensure the SSNIT paid the monthly allowance until the stipulated period of age 70 elapsed. 15 Aug. 09
