Panfokrom (C/R), July 27, GNA - Mr Issah Ayanaba, the Director of the Department of Community Development, has said that Women Training Institutes are being upgraded to enable them to produce trainees with marketable skills.

The Department has periodically held skills upgrading courses for teaching staff of the institutes to sharpen their abilities. Mr Ayanaba said this at the speech and prize-giving day of the Gomoa Panfokrom Women Training Institute at Gomoa Panfokrom.

He said the Department had procured books and supported the institutes to get teaching aid, sewing machines and hairdressing equipment from the VALCO Trust Fund and other charity agencies. The Director said the Department contacted a British charity organization, which had supplied over 300 refurbished computers to Women's Training Institutes and Community Development Technical Institutes.

He said the Department had so far established 25 training institutes in the country out of which 20 were for women.
