Tema, Jan. 03, GNA -- Women have been advised to learn to trust in the Lord for solutions to their problems rather than resorting to hasty decisions that make matters worse to handle.

A retired banker, Mrs. Felicia Ampofo, who gave the advice, regretted that some women with no fault of theirs suffer humiliations from families as well as the public.

She mentioned, for instance the way women are ridiculed and treated in marriages when they are unable to conceive few years after marriage or after the death of a husband and described it as very unfortunate.

Mrs. Ampofo was speaking to over 50 women in Tema over the weekend at an end-of-year dinner dance organised by the Joy Fellowship Ministry, a women's wing of the Assemblies of God Church.

The programme was to allow the group to deliberate on its activities in the past year and to interact with members as well as encourage them on various issues.

She noted that poverty was a major issue confronting some women in the society and urged churches to initiate projects in the church that would champion the course of women.

The President of the Fellowship, Mrs. Doreen Gyebi in her report said the fellowship comprises mostly young working women in the Church who, due to the nature of their work could not participate in normal church programmes and has the main aim of reaching out to other women in the communities, who have not accepted Christ and to speak the word of God to them.

She said the group, in the past years have embarked on a number of programmes, including donations to the needy, retreats, counseling sessions and hope to build on programmes that would enhance the well-being of women, especially in this era of the world becoming a global village.

She called on philanthropists and benevolent organisations to support them achieve these goals.

The Head Pastor of Community Two Assemblies of God Church, Rev. Amanor Ntow, advised Christians to start the year by seeking the will of God for directions in life, saying, "if God is with you no demon can hinder your prosperity."

He added that as Christians there might be some challenges in life but with perseverance and with Christ on our side we will go through it easily.
