Women cautioned not to follow men without permanent addresses

Ajumako (C/R), May 20, GNA - The Ejumako-Enyan-Essiam District Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Miss Georgina Yeboah, has cautioned women against offering themselves to men without permanent addresses.

Miss Yeboah said relating to men who went to a community to perform a duty which would last for only short periods could be dangerous, since such men would not be available to bear the responsibility in the event of pregnancy and cater for the child.

She attributed the upsurge of the number of street children to the contracting of such relationships.

"As soon as the job is completed and the man leaves, the marriage is ended," she said. Miss Yeboah gave the advice at a forum organize by the District Directorate of the NCCE, as part of activities marking the Fourth Constitutional Week.

It was under the theme: "National Integration through tolerance." The District Director said very soon the fishing season would begin and fishermen would be migrating from community to community on fishing expeditions and advised women not to get enticed with fish to offer themselves to the migrating fishermen.

She said though national integration could be achieved through inter-marriages, women should ensure that it was properly contracted and also to ensure that their own future and that of their children were guaranteed.

Miss Yeaboah urged women not to allow themselves to be misused to foment troubles during the electioneering campaign, at the time of the election and after.

She advised them to study and analyse issues presented by the politicians before taking decision as to who to vote for urging them to tolerate the views of their political opponents.

In a football match between Ajumako Youth and Essiam Youth, organized by the directorate, Ajumako beat Essiam 6 - 5 on penalties after the full time score ended 1 - 1.

The teams were presented with cash prizes and copies of the abridged version of the 1992 Constitution.
