The District Chief Executive of Afadzato South in the Volta Region, Mrs Angela Alorwu-Tay charged women to take keen interest in the development of their children and the home than any other duty.
She says the woman who is an influential tool, is also a source of hope to the children as they usually spend much with mothers rather than fathers.
She said, any woman who fails in her duty, produces negative result at home and the children become wayward. She said these to a good number of queens in the district at her residence who she had organised to champion activities of challenging issues affecting their communities and families.
She also charged them to initiate programmes that can positively affect the growth of the people rather than waiting for the Assembly to tell them what they should do.
The participant include queens from each community in the district who have accepted to transform into an Association for effective collaboration and networking among them and outside the region to foster unity, understanding and peace in their various areas.
They also accepted to have regular meeting on rotational basis to educate young people especially the girl-child to ensure their success in their educational career and skills training to those who do not have the opportunity to climb the academic ladder.
A representative of the Paramount Queen of Goviefe, Mamaga Mudego IV, said the numerous potentials of women are untapped to support the development of the district and the nation at large adding if the Assembly is ready to provide them with the little resources, much would be achieved to the benefit of their subjects.
They also raised the issue of non-existence of the non-formal education services in the their areas which hitherto was helping their subjects to read and write and also open their understanding to scope of public discourse on developmental issues that affects them.
In response, Mrs Alorwu-Tey pledged her support to revive those activities and assured them of early inauguration of the Afadjato South Queens Association so that development agenda issues could be pursued through them for the acceleration of development in the district and the people.
She also enumerated a number of projects the Assembly had undertook within the two year space of its creation and her appointment to office with other achievements. They were also educated on HIV/AIDS preventives and care-giving.
