Asokore (E/R), May 22, GNA- The General Overseer of the Wood World Mission Foundation (WWMF), The Rev. William Wood, said at the weekend that the church had instituted a skill training programme, to assist the youth to be self employed.

He said the programme was an obligation of the church to help the disadvantaged in society.

Rev. Wood was speaking during the graduation of 55 students of the church's Wood World Vocational and Computer Institute at Asokore, near Koforidua on Saturday.

They received free tuition in computer software and hardware. He said the church was assisting 47 orphans whose parents died through HIV/AIDS in Malawi.

Rev. Wood advised the students to take their studies seriously and avoid the temptation of engaging in pre-marital sex in order to prevent infection.

The Chairman of the WWMF, in Koforidua, Mr Edward Nyarko Oduro asked people who acquire skill training to utilise the knowledge to reduce the level of poverty in the country. He explained that some trainees often forgot about what they have learnt because they relax and refuse to utilise their skills, thereby making the cost of training a waste.

The Director of WWMF, Rev. Mercy Wood said the church had put up a two story-building facility at the Asokore campus to help increase the intake of students.
