Worawora (V/R), July 29, GNA - The Worawora community in the Jasikan District has taken over and re-activated the 30-year-old Oti Rice Mill under the new name Worawora Rice Mill Limited. It would be inaugurated during the Akwantuteten festival later in the year.

Barimah Owusu Afari, Nkosuohene of the Worawora Traditional Area told the GNA in an interview that the community has so far paid 36 million cedis out of the 736 million being the value of the mill. He said the mill, which was abandoned several years ago, has eight silos with a capacity of 40,800 metric tonnes.

Barima Afari said management of the mill has purchased and distributed among farmers 800 kilos of various rice varieties for cultivation this year.

He urged rice farmers in the Jasikan district to organise themselves into groups to enable them cultivate larger rice farms and appealed to the youth in the district to take advantage of the mill and go into rice farming.
