Accra, Sept. 7, GNA - Government has committed 16 billion cedis towards the rehabilitation of Ghanata Secondary School at Dodowa. The 70-year old school, which is the only second cycle institution in the Damgbe West District, is undergoing a major rehabilitation under the Government's Policy of making one senior secondary school in each district a model one.

The project includes the provision of two storey boarding facility; four teachers' bungalows, science and computer laboratories, economic and visual arts block, dinning hall, library and administration block. With the expansion in the facilities, it would increase the current enrolment level of 850 students to 1,400 as well as enhance quality education.

Alhaji I.C Quaye, Greater Accra Regional Minister, who inspected the school as part of his tour to the district said the project when completed would provide boarding facilities at the school to give relief to parents who were compelled to send their children to schools elsewhere.

Alhaji Quaye expressed satisfaction at the swift pace at which the work was progressing and urged the contractors to ensure that the project was completed on schedule.

Mr Kwame Adu Sakordie, Project Manager, Upgrading and Rehabilitation of Second Cycle Schools, said he was optimistic that the project, which begun in February 2003 would be completed in October 2004.
