Work to begin on Mowire-Kodie-Penteng road

Kodie (Ash), April 3, GNA - Mr Emmanuel Asamoah Owusu-Ansah, Ashanti Regional Minister on Wednesday cut a sod for the construction and tarring of Mowire-Kodie-Penteng road in the newly created Afigya-Kwabre district of the Ashanti region.

He said the 7.5 Kilometre road costing 1.2 million Ghana cedis, with funds from the government was being constructed by Knatto Construction Company.

Mr. Owusu-Ansah said it was a one year project and called on the citizens to cooperate with the contractor to enable it complete the project on schedule.

Addressing a durbar of chiefs and people from Kodie, Apagya, Akrofrom and Mowire, the Regional Minister said similar works were being undertaken on the Pankrono Junction-Atimatim-Maase-Buoho road, Maase-Aboabogya road, Fawoade-Adwumakaase-Aboabogya road and Swedru-Mpobi-Ankaase road. Mr. Owusu-Ansah, accompanied by his Deputy, Mr. Osei Assibey Antwi and Directors from the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) announced that efforts were also being made to get Afrancho-Ntiribuoho-Bomso road tarred.

He said the government was committed to the development and welfare of the people and that everything was being done to ensure that each community had its share.

Mr. Owusu-Ansah said the government had done a lot in the area of education, health, human resource development and provision of electricity and that there was the need for them to reciprocate by voting massively for the NPP in the December 7 general election to continue with the provision of more development projects. Mr. Benjamin Arthur, Managing Director of the Knatto Construction Company said the project had specifications and called on the citizens to cooperate with the workers to ensure a successful completion of the project.

Mr Arthur, who is also the Chairman of the Ashanti Regional Road Contractors Association, said his company was prepared to complete the project before the deadline if citizens would help them with the provision of sand and accommodation.
