Akyem Juaso, March 28, GNA -Twenty participants including eight women have ended a seven-day training workshop on beekeeping under Phase Two of the Rural Enterprises Project (REP) at Akyem Juaso in the Fanteakwa District.

The REP is part of the government's development programme to reduce poverty in rural areas.

In an address Mr George Dwamena Ofori, District Head of the Business Advisory Centre, said the project was essentially designed to achieve a broad based increase in production, employment and income of poor rural families.

He congratulated the trainees for successfully completing the workshop and urged them to form a group saying, "There is strength in numbers."

Mr Ofori advised them to put the skills they had acquired to practice and said the REP/BAC would support them with managerial training and micro credit. He thanked Mrs Birgit Thompson, a German investor, for providing the trainees with a centrifugal extractor - a machine used in extracting honey.

Mr Patrick Obeng, a unit committee chairman, gave the assurance that they would put their knowledge at the disposal of people who could not attend the training programme.
