Kumasi, July 10, GNA - A two-day workshop aimed at providing participants with fundraising techniques through proposal writing, last Tuesday ended in Kumasi.

Dubbed "The Trainer of Trainers' workshop, organized by the Ghana National Education Campaign Coalition (GNECC), was to build capacity and equip members of the coalition and its collaborators to be able to raise funds to support its activities at the grassroots level. Addressing the closing session of the workshop, Mr John Kwadwo Owusu, the Coordinator of the Ashanti Regional Chapter of GNECC, commended the participants selected from the District Education for All Teams (DEFATS) officials from non-government organizations Community based Organizations, GNECC members and civil society organizations for their active cooperation and contributions towards the success of the workshop.

He urged members of the coalition and its collaborators to be committed to the activities of the organisation stressing that funds for the coalition's programmes were not forthcoming. Mr Owusu said it was against the challenge of raising funds that the Regional Chapter asked that such a programme be organised for members so that they could at their local levels raise funds to support the activities of the coalition.

The Regional Coordinator stressed the need for the participants to endeavour to share the knowledge acquired at the workshop with their colleagues at their workplaces so that they could also contribute effectively to support the aims and aspirations of the coalition. Mrs Sahadatu Alolo, a fundraising advisor to the Coalition, said it was important to network with other organizations to raise funds and urged GNECC to be proactive in identifying possible donors to fund their designed projects.
