World Vision Ghana (WVG), a Christian humanitarian organization, has made available, large quantity of education and medical supplies costing GH?21,136.00 in support of selected schools and health facilities in the Upper Denkyira West District.
These were made up of assorted textbooks books covering the various disciplines, surgical examination gloves and instruments, oxygen and aerosol apparatus, syringes with catheter tip and enteral irrigation.
The Ntom D/A and R/C basic schools, Jameso Nkwanta D/A, Modaso Anglican, Amenasi D/A basic and Diaso senior high, are the schools that benefited.
The health facilities included the Dunkwa Hospital, Diaso and Subin Health Centres, Amoaman, Amenasi and Ntom Community Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compound.
Mr. Joseph Kwogyenga, acting Regional Operations Manager, WVG-Kumasi Base, presenting the items said this was a step taken to support the government to address educational and health gaps in terms of logistics, teaching and learning materials.
The organization, under its integrated community development interventions in the district had since last year been working to transform the lives of the rural population.
It is operating in 26 communities and targeted to make things better for about 40,161 vulnerable children and their families - having so far spent in excess of GH?81,000.00 on water and sanitation, health, education, food security and economic empowerment.
He said he was hopeful that the books and medical supplies would motivate teachers and health professionals to improve the quality of services.
Mr. Ambrose Amoahia, the District Coordinating Director, said they were grateful to the organization for the support, adding that, there could not be any doubt that it would help to significantly increase the quality of education and healthcare.
