World Vision gives to schools in Mpohor-Wassa

Daboase (W/R), July 28, GNA- World Vision Ghana (WV), a non-governmental organisation (NGO), under its education and school health development programme, has presented educational items worth more than 133 million cedis to the Mpohor-Wassa East District Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES).

The donation that include textbooks, furniture, hand-washing bowls, towels and first aid boxes with drugs, would be distributed to schools in communities in the district.

The communities include Sekyere-Himan, Dwenase, Sekyere-Adiembra, Ekutuase, Atobiase, Sekyere-Abroadzewuram and Domama. The rest are Sekyere-Krobo, Sekyere-Aboaboso, Mensakrom, Sekyere-Nsuta and Sekyere-Obuase.

Ms Elisabeth Sagoe, Mpohor-Wassa East Area Development Programme Manager of WV-Ghana, presented the items to Mr Edward Tawiah Amprofi, the District Chief Executive (DCE) at Daboase on Wednesday. She said the NGO considered itself a stakeholder in the progress of the area and would continue to complement the efforts of the government to work towards the realisation of the people's developmental aspirations. Ms Sagoe commended WV for contributing to the development of education in the district expressed the hope that the collaboration between stakeholders in education would be maintained for the sector to achieve more successes.

She said 6, 000 schoolchildren have been de-wormed on three occasions and 17 teachers have been trained to identify hearing impairment among children in the district.

Ms Sagoe said under the WV health development programme, 500 children have been screened for hearing ability and those with problems were referred to the hospital for medical attention. Mr Amprofi thanked WV for the donation and said the NGO had over its three years of operation in the district, proved to be a worthy partner in development.

The DCE expressed his profound gratitude to the NGO for seeking the welfare of the people.
