Over 800 community police and fire service assistants have been deployed to the Western region
The Western Regional Director of Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Abdul Hakeem Mahama, has officially handed over 288 Fire Service Assistants (FSAs) and 616 Community Protection Assistants (CPAs) to the Regional and District Commands of the Fire and Police Services.
The ceremony began on September 23, 2025, with the presentation of the 616 CPAs to the Regional Police Commander, including 191 beneficiaries from five districts around the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.
Similarly, the 288 FSAs were presented to the Regional Fire Commander at the Fire Service regional headquarters in Fijai, with 98 FSAs in attendance.
Over the next few days, Hakeem Mahama handed over FSA and CPA beneficiaries from various districts, including Wassa Amenfi West, Wassa Amenfi Central, Wassa Amenfi East, Ahanta West, Mpohor, Tarkwa Nsuaem, and Prestea Huni Valley, to their respective District Fire and Police Commands.
The ceremony concluded on September 29, 2025, with FSA and CPA beneficiaries from Jomoro, Nzema East, and Ellembelle being handed over to their District Fire and Police Commanders.
In his address at each ceremony, the Western Regional YEA Director, Hakeem Mahama assured beneficiaries that the Agency would collaborate with the security services to recruit hardworking and committed individuals into the Ghana Police Service and National Fire Service.
He also encouraged beneficiaries to improve their grades to facilitate a smooth transition.
He further tasked police and fire officers to mentor the beneficiaries and provide them with hands-on training.
He expressed gratitude to District Managers for their cooperation and urged the youth to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the Youth Employment Agency.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to Daniel Kaku, thanked the government for giving them opportunities to serve their communities and their districts.
