Yonso (Ash), July 23, GNA - The Yonso Students Union (YOSU), in collaboration with Yaa Komfuor Bediako Heritage, a benevolent society, at the weekend donated school uniforms and education materials to 39 brilliant but needy pupils and students at Yonso near Mampong in the Sekyere West District.

The 18 junior secondary school students and 21 primary pupils who benefited from the donation were selected from the Yonso United Primary School, Yonso District Assembly (D/A) Primary School, Yonso D/A One and Two JSS.

Nine other people including five teachers and four citizens of Yonso were also awarded by the two bodies for their contributions towards improving education in the town.

The teachers were each given a piece of wax print and certificates with the citizens receiving a shield each. Donating the items Mr Joseph Boateng, President of YOSU, appealed to parents to refrain from engaging their wards in child labour as such practices could jeopardize their future.

He said the union would work hard to complete the teachers' quarters project that it started last year.

Mr Isaac Yeboah, Chief Executive Officer of Yaa Komfuor Bediako Heritage, congratulated the Union for rehabilitating the Yonso library. Receiving the items on behalf of the beneficiaries Mr Patrick Adusei, headteacher of the Yonso United Primary School, thanked the two donor organizations and called on stakeholders to commit resources towards the educational development of the town.
