Yamfo Police Now Tough On School Children

The Yamfo Police in the Tano District of the Brong Ahafo region have issued a directive banning children in the district from staying out after 8:30 in the evenings to enable them study.

The Directive which takes effects on Tuesday October 28, affects all children of school going age under 18 years.

Inspector Samuel Amoani of the Yamfo Police who spoke to Space Fm in Sunyani on the new measures said, hence forth any young person under 18 years who would be found in discos, cinema or loitering after these hours will be arrested, prosecuted and fined.

The tough disciplinary stance adopted by the Yamfo Police, comes in the wake of recent dismal performances in the BECE examinations by the pupils of the area. The measure is intended instill discipline among the youth of the area as well as address the declining standards of education in the Tano District.

Inspector Amoani said the Police in collaboration with the Town Council have formed a special Task Force which will monitor and enforce the new directive.

He also appealed to the Tano District Assembly and the general public to assist them in renovating the police station which has seen no renovation in over 20 years. Inspector Amoani said the poor state of the building and lack of logistics has greatly affected the operations of the station.
