Yefri constructs SSS classroom block

Yefri (B/A) April 2, GNA - Residents of Yefri in Nkoranza District of Brong Ahafo bagged 10 million cedis at a fund raising rally at the weekend towards the construction of classroom blocks for a Senior Secondary School in the area.

Mr. Prince Kwame Ofosu Adjei, an educationist and a citizen said non-resident citizens were mobilizing resources to support on-going projects in the area to supplement the efforts of residents. "They have decided to make special contributions towards the re-opening of a rural bank in the area, which was closed down as a result of low capital base to enable the people to expand their economic activities", he added.

The educationist said there was also a plan to assist farmers to cultivate block maize farms and inter-crop them with mango seedlings. Mr. Adjei said an education endowment fund would be established to assist brilliant but needy students to pursue higher education.

Mr. Yaw Acheampong, chairman of the unit committee announced that the people were making special contributions of 10,000 cedis each whilst non residents were paying 50,000 cedis per a man and 30,000 cedis a woman to support the school project.

He appealed to the people to pay their contributions promptly for the early completion of the school project.

The unit committee chairman advised parents to monitor the activities of their children since the school authorities or the community leaders would not tolerate any acts of indiscipline among the students of the school.

Mr. Robert Kwame Adjei, a citizen and manager of Mobil filling station at Kintampo who presided at the rally commended the youth for their communal labour spirit towards development projects.

He gave the assurance that non-resident citizens would continue to support the development of the area and urged the youth to guard against pre-marital sex to avoid contracting HIV/AIDS. Nana Kwame Nsoah, regent of the area and his elders were present.
