Yeloto African Children Foundation
The Yeloto African Children Foundation on Wednesday outlined plans to visit Ghana between December 11th – 14th, to impact on the lives of impoverished children through the provision of basic necessities, medical care, and education.
A statement signed by Dr. Oluyemi Olawaiye, Founder of the YELOTO and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, said the Foundation annually looked out for children “who may have slipped through the proverbial healthcare cracks in African hospitals.”
“We pay for the full cost of surgeries for children whose parents are not able to meet these costs,” adding, “YELOTO directly works with the Chief Medical Director of Lagos State Teaching Hospital, and we hope to form similar relationships in Ghana”.
According to the statement, “Depending on our budget and funds available, we will partner with a hospital with children whose parents, for whatever reason, are not able to afford the cost of the child’s healthcare treatment.
“It is for situations like these where we hope to come and alleviate such burdens from the family and cover the operative and post-operative medical costs of the lucky child or children.
“Our plan is to partner with Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and help disadvantaged children. We have also identified Enough Grace Foundation (an orphanage) at Awoshie- Accra, Ghana as our target orphanage for 2018. We will visit them with gifts and financial assistance,” the statement said.
Dr. Olawaiye pointed out, “One of the ongoing goals of Yeloto Incorporated is to sponsored children’s parties annually for kids residing in orphanages”.
The Foundation last year worked in partnership with a South African based company, which manufactures hearing aid devices for deaf children to provide two brilliant children of West Rand School in Guateng, Johannesburg, hearing aid devices they desperately needed, thereby giving these children a new lease of life.
In addition to social events, the Foundation also provided monetary scholarships to assist indigent children, homeless or otherwise, in elementary and high schools.
This year the Yeloto team tapped into the networks of a US-based Ghanaian physician, Dr Christian Bannerman, an Emergency Physician in New York, to lead the team in its efforts in Ghana.
YELOTO was created in 2011 by Dr. Oluyemi Olawaiye, (Pharm, D), with the support of his wife Dr. Regine Bruny-Olawaiye, MD/MBA.
