Yo-Na donates to prison inmates

Yo-Na Andani Yakubu Abdulai has donated items to the Yendi prison inmates worth thousands of Ghana cedis.

The items included; bread, sugar, bags of maize, bags of rice, and cartons of Lipton tea to the inmates.

Presenting the items on his behalf, the former Regent of Dagban, indicated that the donation was the 16th since he started donating items including bulls and rams to the inmates for the Ramadan when he was in Yendi.

He said the items formed part of the Iftar Sa-em (breaking of fast) and advised the inmates to always obey the Prison Officers to acquire skills that would make them self-reliant when they were back home.

180 inmates made up of 171 convicts and nine remand persons would benefit from the items.

The Assistant Director or Prisons Mr Simon Yao Adzah, the Yendi Municipal Prison Officer who received the items on behalf of the inmates said they were grateful the chief did not forget of the unfortunate ones.

He said the inmates would know that the society had not forgotten of them. On behalf of The Director General of Prison, he thanked Yo-Na for his kind gesture and appealed to other traditional authorities and other organisations not to forget of the inmates.

Other Prison Officers who were present during the donation included; Deputy Superintendent of Prisons, Mr Matthew Mbabila Sumako, Assistant Superintendent of Prisons Mr Samuel Dogbe Assistant Superintendent of Prisons Mr David Bonsi and Senior Chief Officer Christopher Kallai
