PRESS RELEASE

As this year’s WASSCE examination begins through out the country and some parts of West Africa, Youth Alliance for Development is wishing all final year students well for the coming exams.

We are per this release urging all candidates to strictly adhere to all procedures guiding the writing of the exams to avoid any possible cancellations of subjects and even their entire results.

We call on the West African Examination Council (WAEC) and other stakeholders including parents to put in place stringent measures to ensure that we have a malpractice free exam.

We call on the Security agencies to be on alert for persons who claim to have access to questions and take advantage to siphon money from innocent students during this period.

Our outfit has keenly observed current reports of upsurge of indiscipline in various second cycle institutions across the country which has become a major hurdle in the quest to improve the standard of education in the country.

We are very much disturbed with the suspension of the over 950 final year students of the Northern School of Business Senior High School and the other over 400 in Kumasi Girls Senior High as reported in the media.

Whilst we call on the youth to strictly obey all school rules and comport themselves well we are also of the view that the timing for the suspension of the students is bad and have serious negative implications on their performance in the examinations.

Youth Alliance will therefore at this point plead with authorities in the affected schools to call the affected students back to school and find alternative means of punishing them later.

Finally we call on all stakeholders in charge of Youth development in the country to restructure their strategies to meet current challenges confronting the youth.

Once again we say good luck to our candidates. Long live Ghana Long live the Youth of our mother land.
