An Ibrahim Karim, 42, who reportedly hacked another person, Kofi Donkor at Awuah Odumase in the Brong Ahafo region was on Sunday flushed out from his room, lynched and set ablaze by angry youth of the town.
Reports indicate that Karim’s attack on Donkor who hails from Odumase had further incensed the youth to visit their wrath on all Zabrama citizens in the town since the (Karim) was a Zabrama. Reports from Sunyani indicate that the youth of Awuah Odumase, near Sunyani, are calling for the blood of Zamarama citizens resident in the town, following cutlass wounds inflicted on an Odumasi citizen by a Zamarama man living there. The arrest of the man by the police would not calm the youth down, as some other Zamramas were chased out from Odumase, forcing most of them to seek refuge in and around the weekend.
One of such Zamarama citizens chased out from Odumase is 52-year-old Mohammed Moro, a fuel dealer in the town who reported to the police that a mob came on him, threatening him to kill him if he did not leave the town.
The man in a chat with Chronicle at a drinking spot opposite the Sunyani district police station revealed that his colleagues were also facing a similar treatment from the youth. Moro said he was not related to the man who inflicted the cutlass wound on a citizen from the town and not even on good terms with him, but they were all facing the same problem as the suspect.
At about 6.45pm, the district commander of police in charge of Sunyani, Superintendent J.K. Zu, with other police officers and Moro drove to the resident of the Brong Ahafo Regional police commander to see how best they can tackle the situation at Odumase, which happened to be the hometown of J.H. Mensah, the senior Minister and MP for Sunyani East. What resulted in the expulsion of the Zamramas in the area was that one Ibrahim Karim, 42; a Zamarama was alleged to have hacked a citizen of the town, Kofi Donkor, for no apparent reason.
