Zacinut, Ghana’s foremost and registered integrated account development institution, has donated 10 cartons of its one liter-bottled fresh coconut water together with eight boxes of coconut meals to the Ga East Municipal Hospital at Kwabenya.

Mr. Prince M. Zakaria, the Chief Executive Officer of Zaconut, who presented the items on Tuesday, said the gesture was the company’s ‘widow’s mite’ to support the efforts of health workers to save the lives of their patients.

The items, he said, was to refresh both the health workers as well as all patients at the facility and also cater for their nutritional needs for the day, considering the nutritive value of coconut water and it’s meal, to also ensure the speedy recovery of the sick.

He said the company would continue to support in every way it could efforts towards curbing the spread of COVID-19 infections by encouraging the hygiene in serving fruits and food to the public.

Mr. Zakaria said during the partial lockdown in some areas of the country, the company due to the sales difficulties, came out with the innovative bottling of the fresh coconut water and it’s meal, which was served to its customers.

He said, the company was working hard to showcase seven other brands and was poised to revolutionarize the coconut sub-sector in the country.

Dr. Ebenezer Oduro Mensah, the Medical Superintendent of the Ga East Municipal Hospital’s COVID-19 Treatment Centre, thanked the Company for their thoughtfulness to refresh the health workers and their patients at the facility for the day.

He said coconut water and its meal contained minerals including sodium for rehydration and energy for convalescence and also served as a refreshing drink for both workers and their patients.

He advised the public to observe good health by eating well, ensuring regular exercising, having enough sleep, adhering to the mandatory wearing of face mask directive and social distancing measures among other hygiene and safety protocols.

This, he said, would help minimize the huge stress currently being experienced by health care workers.
